What sets us apart from other workshops, or career help services?
When it comes to California state services, the biggest confusion and roadblock is list eligibility. What is that list? Do I need to be on it? How do I get on it? It is a list of eligible individuals that you need to be on to be hired by a state agency or department. You might hear the term list eligible or reachable. Any new applicant to state services can be hired without having list eligibility. (Are you still confused?) State services positions have classifications. These classifications have pay ranges, so the general public will often see a salary and become hypnotized, but does that individual meet that classification’s minimum qualifications to reach that salary? Some examples of classifications that you may be familiar with are Office Technician (OT), they have an OT Typing, and an OT General, so you will usually see Office Technician (T) or (G), Staff Services Analyst (SSA), Associate Governmental Program Analyst (AGPA), Staff Services Manager I (SSM I) there are a II and a III. In the Information Technology (IT series), you may see IT Associate, IT Specialist I, II, and III, IT Supervisor I or II, and IT Manager I or II.
Learning these nuances and gaining the ability to navigate the recruitment and hiring processes will allow each individual to showcase their skills and experience most effectively.
